abc40 partners with the Springfield Republican newspaper for Student of Character. Students, mainly juniors and seniors, are nominated for their strong character, their civic involvement, and their perseverance in the face of obstacles in their individual lives. The feature is an opportunity for teachers to nominate students who excels not only in the classroom, but displays such qualities as honesty, integrity and courage.

At the end of the school year, one of the students is chosen to receive a four year, full tuition scholarship to American International College. The student also receives a laptop computer from Big Y Supermarkets and a savings bond from Country Bank.

The segment will be airing Thursday morning’s at 6am, and again at 530pm Thursday night.
